Avatar and Piracy

Avatar toppled Blu-ray sales after its release on DVD as well as becoming the most pirated Blu-ray and DVD.  This is no surprise at all, considering the huge success of this film.  The budget was $237 million and as of now has made gross revenue of $2,728,037,195.  That huge success from the epic kick ass film that made me want to hug a tree, paint myself blue and despise the empire building ways of my country.

Anyway, with more than 400,000 Blu-ray torrent downloads within 4 days of its Blu-ray/DVD release the majority of the downloads were from the UK and Australia, where the Blu-ray/DVD release was a few days later than in North America.

This is one record that makes me smile, and whoever says the $2billion + that has come in for this film is not enough because of P2P file sharing can eat shit and die.  They make a kick ass movie, and have become even richer than they were before, and people all over the world that wanted to check out without paying got to experience one of the coolest movies in a long time, win win.

Yea, when they make this kind of doe nobody feels bad for them when their movie is copied like mad. I do think what you described as far as P2P stuff is what goes on mostly in the US, Canada, Europe and other developed nations. The place I see piracy happening the most is in undeveloped, 2nd and 3rd world countries. There they sell copied DVD's on the street for money, and its normal : ) But yea, If I payed to see the movie in the theater, may eventually buy a copy for myself or as a present, is it bad to download my own personal copy? I don't think so.

The thing is, is that mostly teens D/L the movie and watch it on their lap top, then eventually buy the movie for their collection. or go see it in the theater and then D/L for personal use. You see this..... I am playing the worlds smallest Sitar for them... neeerrrrraaa neeerrrrrr
