We are gaming to the tune of 13 hours a week on average. According to an independent study from research group NDP the average time gamers spend doing their thing a week has risen from 12.3 hours a week up to 13 hours a week. If you game on PC, check out your 2 weeks time spent online in Steam and divide it by 2 (I got 13.8 Hours a week, mostly attributed to Battlefield: Bad Co 2Steam..not including any game time on my 360 of course : )… This study focused on US gamers 2 years old and up. If you are lucky enough to be in the category of “extreme” gamer then you are spending at least 48.5 hours a week gaming, you are also a minority among gamers, about 4% of total gamers are considered “extreme”.
In the focus group of US gamers, Console gaming time rose 9%, PC gamers raised up 6% and Portable gamers set down their DS’s and PSP’s to the tune of -16% less gaming time.
Have any guess about the average age of gamers nowadays? I would guess around 25 or so. Well, I was way off. The average age of gamers in the States is 32 years old.
