This fall in North America we will be able to play Company of Heroes Online for free. Free is almost always good. The WWII based multiplayer game will feature up to 8 players commanding Companies of either Allies or Axis armies. There will be six Allies/Axis divisions, each with its own unique set of combat abilities that players can choose. With each win you will earn points that you can spend on upgrades and or special units to command. If you want to take the easy way out you can purchase points and upgrade your Company without earning it in battle.
In statements from Relic Entertainment’s senior producer Tim Holman: “The purchases you make are about making the game more convenient for players who want to level up faster. It doesn’t give you an unfair advantage in a match.”
“We are delighted to bring this award-winning franchise to gamers in a whole new way with the online version of the Company of Heroes experience,” says THQ’s Global Brand Management VP Travis Plane. “Players will benefit from the persistent upgrades and the ability to tailor their armies to really suit their play style making this a unique experience for everyone.”
Free is free and I will be down with this, if it disappoints that fine, it was free : )
