Hopefully you were one of the smart ones who took advantage of Valve’s special offer about a month ago where they offered their cult classic Portal for free for about a 2 week period. I downloaded this strategy/brain teaser game and beat it in a little less than 3 hours. And in that three hours I laughed (multiple times) cried and pulled my hair out more than once. The game is fun and humorous at its core. It was a pleasure. So when the internet was buzzing with talk about Portal 2 and the rebirth of a classic with more staff and funds behind the project I got a little excited. But now my excitement has wavered a little, now that Valve has released their press release titled, “Making Games is Hard”.
Basically in this release Valve tells us that the release of Portal 2 will be delayed until 2011 because…. well apparently making games is hard, who woulda thunk it. We are assured however that even though Portal 2 will be delayed our lives will go on as normal, even without a new facility to escape after an experiment gone wrong. One thing I know is Valve + Steam = on the money : ) so the wait will be well worth it.
