The FCC’s Dirty Hands

The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) would like a volunteer group of internet users to attach a special router in their home in able to monitor their internet connection speed.  At least that is what they are claiming.  They are saying they want to monitor speed, jitter, latency and packet loss.  Did I mention this is not being spun as an attempt to monitor our usage or to eventually prosecute torrent users, but to monitor the strength of our internet connections?

The FCC is looking for 10,000 volunteers to kick start this program.  Let’s hope that this is not something that the government gets too involved in, for everyone’s sake.  If you want to become the governments guinea pig you can sigh up here.
