The 4th of July, Independence Day 2010

How different would the States be if still under the control of England?  I can’t even imagine how my country would look if that was the case.  I wonder if it would look like a wasteland scene from Fallout 3.  There is no doubt that the history of the States is interesting and impressive, coming from a new frontier and unexplored land to the biggest international player in the world today.  I cannot deny that the States became as big (literally and figuratively) as she is if not for ambitious men that were not afraid to kill natives and exploit people and resources.  Although the history of the States can be discouraging, it also has light spots.  Impressive feats include: stepping in during WWI & WWII when to help out European countries to defeat Germany and company two times.

Little know about America’s Independence is that the actual legal separation of the States was on the 2nd of July.  John Adams, one of the founding fathers wrote this about the 2nd of July 1776, “The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.”  He was only a few days off, since the actual declaration was actually approved on the 4th, but was signed on the 2nd.  Anyway, BLOW some stuff up today and Happy Independence Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
