Paul Allen, the man that helped Bill Gates found Microsoft back in the 1970’s has released a statement that he will give away half of his wealth to charity. Over the years Paul has donated millions, and has promised to give away half of his $13.5 billion to philanthropy.
Paul Allen states, “I’ve planned for many years now that the majority of my estate will be left to philanthropy to continue the work of the foundation and to fund nonprofit scientific research, like the ground breaking work being done at the Allen Institute for Brain Science,”
Paul’s comments come after Warren Buffet and Bill Gates recent call for the countries billionaires to give ½ of their money to charity. This is a bright spot on recent American History; hopefully the money goes towards worthwhile causes and encourage others with fat pocket books to try to do something with their money rather than sitting on it or blowing it.
Bravo Paul, bravo.
