There is no doubt that the Call of Duty series has become the biggest brand name in gaming in the last few years. They have come to this top spot for doing many things right. Along the way they have also done quite a few things wrong. Whatever your feeling about Call of Duty, Activision, or their latest release of Black Ops, the fact remains, gamers are willing to fork over $59.99 the first chance they get try out a new COD game.
Let’s be real. They are selling Call of Duty: Black Ops like hot cakes, so they must be doing something right…right? Anyway Activision has surpassed the $1 Billion sales mark. That is no small task for any company with a single product. Let’s take a look at how many zeros a billion has in it…1,000,000,000. That’s alotta zeros, especially considering that the game was just released a little more than a month ago.
Activision CEO Bobby Kotick points out,
“In all of entertainment, only Call of Duty and Avatar have ever achieved the billion dollar revenue milestone this quickly,”
Thank you Bobby, now I have lost the desire to rip out your jerry curls.
