I don’t want to go back in time, nor do I want to live in the 21st Century without Internet. Sure I can ask someone for a phone book or ask directions, but WTF? Why would I want to flip through a 10 pound phone book and end up spending 10 minutes to find a mechanic when I could do a Google search and find what I need in like 10 seconds. The internet has made many tasks in our lives much easier, I’m just glad that I actually could function before the Internet was so common. What’s the point of these ramblings?
I recently moved and for the past week or so I have not had internet in my new apartment. What a pain in the ass. I really didn’t realize how much I relied on easy access to a high speed connection for things like: driving directions, finding a job, staying in touch with friends and family and of course gaming and keeping up on things here at Airborne Gamer. I did make sure I could game offline through Steam before I moved, so I have been playing through Crysis 2 and will have some screenshots up and a review shortly, but no multiplayer until I get my damn high speed connection in my appt.
So, I don’t know if what I am describing is sad or actually understandable from an outsiders point of view. However I don’t really give a shit. If your reading this (congratulations you’ve made it to the 3rd paragraph) then most likely you have easy high speed internet at your fingertips in your home, so you can feel my pain. If you are like my friend Brad in Canada and have to suffer through a dial up connection like my grandmother, not because of a choice you’ve made, but because of the location of your house in relation to high speed cable lines, then I feel even more pity for you than for myself, because I just need to wait for the tech to show up to connect my internetz, while you have to wait for a cable company to run cable lines down your street 🙁 Sorry about that Brad.
Anyway, I hopefully will have my internetz back soon and will not have to resort to McDonald’s or my apartment’s lobby to get a internet connection. So please whatever you do, I beg you, Don’t Take Away my Internetz!
