This week we have a new question for everyone. If anyone has any suggestions for a question for us to mull over next week, feel free to leave a suggestion in the comments below or contact me with your suggestion. We’ll try to keep it fresh for y’all. Here it is: What’s your favorite Retro game and why?
Casper — If it’s old it would have to be Mario Bros. original on the GameBoy. I could play that game for hours, that lil guy bouncing all over the place it was one of the first games I really got into and it just captured me and made me wanna play it..and now when I look at it I can’t for the life see why I loved it so much, haha at the time it was just epic 😀 … The original Mortal Kombat game in DOS and was awesome on the PC aswell.. nothing like doing power fatalities 😀 it really captured me all the fighting and effects..back than it was than it was tha shit.
Christopher — This is going to come across as a cop-out, I know, but hands down my favorite Retro game is Metroid Prime Trilogy. Yes, techinically it’s three of Retro’s best games combined into one, but even to this day it’s still the best First Person Adventure/Shooter on the Wii and still one of the greatest games of all time. Retro Studios continued Nintendo’s track record of perfectly translating their big franchises into 3D with the original Metroid Prime capturing everything that made Super Metroid great, only in 3D. Echoes and Corruption allowed Retro to take the series in their own unique direction, that kept everything we loved about the series while also giving us some of the best boss battles ever.
Dylan — I’m going to have to say my favorite retro game would be the Sonic series (when they were on Sega consoles). I used to play those things nonstop collecting rings and doing the loops. Those were my main games for probably around 2 or 3 years. I probably played all of the retro Sonic games at one point, but recently the Sonic games have been lacking.
Adam — Well, since Mario made me a gamer…literally. I’d have to say the original Mario series on the NES. Mario showed me what games are all about, having a fun time! Even after like 20 years or whatever, Mario is still a blast. I actually was playing the original Mario on my Wii the other day. But dammit, I wish I could save my progress so I didn’t have to beat the damn game in one foul swoop. So yeah, Mario, thank you for taking care of me in my tender childhood, I owe you bro.
Luke — Hm….my favorite retro game….that’s a hard one. I think I will go with Pacman because the game is simple yet surprisingly complex. The game is similar to Donkey Kong but in my opinion it would seem a little easier to start playing Pacman. Only a smart gamer can truly master Pacman. It could be compared to a chess game. In a maze you want to take the best possible route (best move). I’m no pro but I think I choose Pacman because out of all Retro games I’m probably the best at it xP.
