Happy Cloud – Instant Gratification for Eager Gamers

Happy Cloud is a new service that offers PC gamers something we all desire, Instant Gaming. Think of them as a mix of Steam and OnLive, not in terms of game selection or pricing, but in terms of the core function of the service.  Let me put it this way, “Happy Cloud is true on-demand digital distribution for video games.”  And what does that mean? It means the game is on your Hard Drive, but you don’t have to wait for it to finish downloading to actually play the game!  Pretty cool, right?

I had a chat with the VP of Happy Cloud Eric, and he let me in on some pretty cool things that are going down in this so called Cloud of Happiness.

The have been developing the software for over 2 years now and they just launched for the public this last Monday (07-18-11).  The first thing you may notice about the service at this stage is that their selection of games is limited, severely.  But rest assured they are working with publishers and developers to expand their library of games in the very near future.

I believe the pursuit of Happy Cloud is a noble pursuit, one of instant gratification. Not just instant gratification, but instant gratification and gaming combined, 2 of my favorite things in the whole wide world.

ahh okay but if only 1 quarter of the game is downloaded you would only have access to that 1 quarter.. so your better off just waiting til its finished :P

It means the game is on your Hard Drive, but you don’t have to wait for it to finish downloading to actually play the game! Do uno just how insane that is ? No matter what you do you will need to download the game to play it..its impossible to play something thats not there ? Even using a webpage to play your game is still downloading technically. Any internet traffic your getting onto your computer is downloading and im 100% certain that this new service will require some form of downloading either at the start or in bits of pieces throughout.. How can you see ? Or Use ? A service that apparently isnt downloading onto your machine ?? If i buy a game(DVD/STEAM) and there is no files on my computer for it..it simply doesn't exist right ? i can not launch a game without some core files even the shitty in web browser games still require you to download the core java/shock files for you to be able to see it.. Im either confused or they have invented something beyond logic understanding ? lol

Lol, I think ur a bit confused....You start downloading the game and during the download to your HD you can play the game...before it's fully downloaded, therefore not having to wait for a full download/install to take place to begin your gaming.

Interesting..but i honestly dont believe it will pick up unless it offers all the steam features + more.. or at least be cheaper than the 2or3 main digital sellers..
