Today, Microsoft have confirmed that the latest iteration of Windows will come equipped with Xbox Live. Yes, again. Hopefully it’ll work out a whole lot better than Games for Windows’s annual subscription fees and its botched cross-platform initiative. A new go at it means a new name too, so get ready to say hello to Xbox Live on Windows when Windows 8 comes calling next year.
Xbox Live director of programming Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb gave up a brief spiel on just how the revamped service will (hopefully) roll, but it’s mostly non-specific PR hyperbole: “Xbox Live brings your games, music, movies, and TV shows to your favorite Microsoft and Windows devices. Bringing Xbox Live to Windows 8 is part of our vision to bring you all the entertainment you want, shared with the people you care about, made easy.”
