Glyde is a online service where you can list items for sale in literally under a minute. You can also find a wide variety of things to buy that may interest you, such as: DVD’s, CD’s, Games, Books, iPods, Tablets and Phones. Is it worth your time to check them out and un-load some of you sutff, or possibly find a good deal? My Glyde Review is below.
Upon first laying my eyes upon Glyde things looked simple, which is rare and refreshing in this day and age of online digital information overload. There is a list of things for sale at the botom of the screen and at the top a search bar to find what your looking for. Upon looking through the selection of things to buy I started to feel like I was in an online estate sale. Things were cheap and priced to go! Sure I came across the random item priced $1.00 below its origional cost, but most everything I came across boasted savings of 30-50% or more, which is signaficant. Granted things are used, I personally don’t mind buying used as long as what I get does not have baby snot on it, I’m good to go!
Simple buying and selling seems to be the name of the game with Glyde, and I’m already impressed with the simplicity of the whole process. I will point out this now, there is no PC Games to buy or sale on Glyde. I know PC games once activated cannot be re-activated on another PC, but it seems that there could be some way to integrage PC games (even new and at discount prices) within Glyde. Being a PC Gamer at heart, even being possibly un-realistic, this is something I want to see with the service.
Glyde, while simple and unique in its programming is slow. No, it’s not slow to put someething up for sale, nor is it slow to go thorugh the actions of clicking and buying something, that’s the fast part. the slowness I’m refering to is in terms of how long you will have to wait to get your product.
And here is the reason, and while this reason in the long term will offer a more universal customer experience, waiting more than a few days for an online purchase seems like going back in time to me.
Once you decide you want to buy an iPod shuffle for your wife (Yes, I’m a good husband) the “seller” is then sent packaging materials to send out the previously mentioned piece of electronic magic. Once they recive the packaging for what their selling they then add their product to the package and send it off. So the buyer has to wait for the seller to recive the packaging, then for the seller to package the product and ship it. So you’re looking at twice the normal time to recive something you have purchased online say through NewEgg or a similar site.
While this is not a deal breaker, and a great deal trumphs a few extra days waiting on delivery, it is something that the Glyde team should seriously look at providing other options for. Such as offering to remove the cost the seller pays for Glyde’s shipping material as an option to provide the shipping material them selves. Or once a seller gets a certain reputation to allow them to post items that will be delivered within 3 business days, something like that.
Whle convient to not have to make a trip to the Post Office to pick up your own shipping material, the buyer is waiting longer than they have become acustomed to wait for an online purchase to arrive.
A few more very cool features of Glyde are the search features. When listing soemthing to sell, your search for that object automatically add the discription, picture and recomended price to list your item to sell it fast. It even displays how many people have listed a similar item below your price range, so you can easily lower your price to get your stuff sold faster.
And I have yet to mention charaties. When you put your item for sale on Glyde you have the option to choose from hundreds of charities to donate 25% to 100% of your profits to, very cool. This feature alone I found unique and interesting about Glyde, thanks for adding this to your business model, we know there are a lot of people in need out there, even though we don’t always see them.
Conclusion:
Glyde makes buying and selling things online easy. Sure you have to wait about two times as long for delivery of your online purchase as you’ve become acustomed to over the years, but you’ll be getting such great deals on things the wait won’t really matter. And actually finding your purcase in the mail after you’ve almost forgeten that you actually bought something tastes just as sweet.
With Glyde you’ll be able to list things for sale that are sitting collecting dust on your shelves and not have to worry about shipping. You’ll recive the shipping material, postage and purchasers information, so just slap that stuff on there and ship it off, easy.
Low prices are key with Glyde. It it wasn’t for the super-low prices you’ll find on iPods, Movies and Games Glyde would not be what it is. But as of now it’s simple and makes me want to buy things because of the crazy low prices their users offer on their products.
