This week we look within our tiny brains and think about the different game developers out there and which ones stand out from the pack. Of course this type of question may lead to a bias in the answer specifically if you prefer one genre of gaming over another, as most of us do. But non the less, here is our QOTW: Which video game developer is on the cutting edge?
Kyle: For me, the cutting edge of video games has always belonged to Bioware.
I know that in recent years they have been weak… really weak, but it still doesn’t take away the fact that they make games like no-one else can.
In the Knights of the Old Republic days they couldn’t put a foot wrong and were exceptional, they returned to that with Mass Effect 1. It has gone downhill since then, but still.
Casper: I dont think any Video Game Developers are on the “Cutting Edge” at the moment because most of them are reusing old engines or buying their engines from other companies. But if I really must pick one I would have to say Unreal/Epic Games for their work on all the engines they release.
If your a gamer you wouldve played some of there handiwork at some point because there engines are used in heaps of titles!! And the next gen engine will make an appearence hopefully at the end of the year or early next which will be the greatest engine to ever be released.
Adam: Hands down Rockstar Games. Anything coming out with Rockstar in the name gets my immediate attention. Their track record is incredible and they are the one company that is really pushing the boundaries story and gameplay wise.
Their last 2 games I played, Red Dead Redemption and L.A. Noire blew my mind. Here’s to hoping Rockstar continues to blow minds and break hearts!
