On May 9, ArenaNet announced another event for pre-purchasers of the upcoming Guild Wars 2 MMORPG. This event is for anyone which as paid for the game completely and received their code for all beta and other special events prior to the release of the game. On Monday May 14 from 11 am PDT to 6 pm PDT, the game will be open for the players to help with a stress test.
The idea of this is to see how the servers do under the strain of so many players at one time. Considering what happened during the first beta weekend, this is a good thing to check on now so that when the game releases and everyone can play, there are (hopefully) not a lot of disgruntled gamers.
Anyone who did play in the first beta can use the same character or create a new one for the stress test. Gamers will need to play in the same game client as they did for the first beta weekend however. ArenaNet tweeted today that this event will not replace the May beta weekend.
I find it interesting that when the open beta began last month, ArenaNet stated no one was under the Non-disclosure agreement anymore but if you check out the official site, it says this:
IMPORTANT: You have to accept the terms of our Non-Disclosure Agreement in order to play in the Stress Test. You cannot discuss the Stress Test in any way and you cannot even mention that you are taking part.
However, people have asked about this and again ArenaNet has tweeted that the stress test is not part of any non-disclosure agreement so people are allowed to talk about it. Very confusing I say. Either way this looks to be a good thing for Guild Wars 2.
