True Virtual Reality Is Closer Than Ever

True Virtual Reality Is Closer Than Ever

Stalled by heavy optics, expensive screens, and laggy motion tracking, it’s been 15+ long years of nothing from the Virtual Reality sector of the gaming industry to produce a viable headset monitor. Sony gets an A for effort with the HMZ-T1, but a D for execution due to low resolution, high cost, and the requirement of a Blu-ray sized dedicated console computer to manage the video stream.

The wait may be coming to an end with the Oculus Rift headset that just hit kickstarter and is now funded. If priced right, this high quality, light weight headset could spark a fire in Virtual Reality Gaming and Entertainment.

The project is backed (and driven) by top industry heavyweights like John Carmack of ID, Gabe Newell of Valve, and  Markus “Notch” Persson, creator of Minecraft, who tweeted:

Yeah, upgraded my backer level to 10k for the Oculus Rift. High odds our games will support it, assuming we can get it to work. ;D

My friends, Oculus Rift most certainly heralds the dawn of a new era in gaming eliteness… welcome to the future.

Get the price point right, and they just might have a market.
