The Gem Of The Fall Indie Bundle

Reprisal: The love child of Populous and From Dust.

I know that sounds like a bad bit of sand in the crack, I promise you, it comes out great in the end for everybody – but enough of the innuendo. A pixelated RTS, with an addictive 8-Bit soundtrack, simple gameplay, and a stupid amount of fun? The only other thing I could ask for is it being addictive – but that comes as complementary on your pillow when you check in.

Based of the cult classic hit Populous, it boasts a lot of features. We will start with the controls, there aren’t any direct interfaces with your empire. You can set your tribe to expand, fight, move to a waypoint, or go to the leader. You can have one active waypoint at a time, they roam around to fight till they find somebody, play follow the leader, or stick settlements down where there is a flat patch. The settlements grow to the size of the flat plain around them automatically – want bigger settlements? Terraform and flatten away! Too many enemy settlements and you can’t handle the numbers? Fire column the lot of them!

You gain powers that you keep across islands (levels) by collecting totems, so far all of them have been the main objective so no cool “out of the way” bonuses like in most RTS’s. I am only 6/30 levels in, so it doesn’t say much.

For a $5 er, and it’s in The Indie Bundle – YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE.

They see me raisin’, they hatin’
