Dragon Age III Postponed until 2014?

If the rumor mill can be trusted, bad news for Dragon Age fans has surfaced; Dragon Age III Inquisition has been postponed until 2014.  As a fan myself, this aggravates me, at least on one level.  If it’s going to help make the game better, instead of rushed, well then I’m all for it.

Apparently on LinkedIn an EA Shanghai level designer’s resume suggested that the non-committal 2013 release for the game might not be accurate.  Kotatu had a link to said account, but it does not exist anymore.  That could actually work against EA because removing the entire account kind of makes it more than a rumor.  The resume stated that the “Scope of the DAIII has been changed, which will target next gen platform and will be postpone to 2014.”  Hmm.

EA has claimed that Dragon Age III will be an open-world game with a single level as big as all the levels from Dragon Age II.  Honestly, for that to work, EA needs time to work on the game.  Not to mention at this late in the year, anything for later next year is not set in stone.  Then again, any game is not set in stone for release, even if a date is on a calendar because things change.  Plus since EA is making the game for the next-gen consoles, and it appears those won’t be out until late 2013 or 2014 at this point, it makes sense that DA3 is postponed.

So all we can do as Dragon Age fans, is keep listening and watching to see if the rumor becomes truth.

I have been a gamer for over 20 years and a writer for longer than that. I was a gamer before it was "ok" for girls to play games. My preference is RPG's over everything else but I also like fighting games, action, adventure, sims, platform, puzzle, and casual games.
