First DLC pack, Dawn of Pirates, for Port Royale 3 released

A little over a month after the release of Port Royale 3 Kalypso Media gives Windows PC gamers the first DLC pack.  Dawn of Pirates adds a new campaign to the high seas game as well as unlocking the online leaderboards and even an “Ironman” mode.

The new campaign is single-player only so you don’t have to worry if your friends have it or not.  The biggest difference between this DLC pack and the regular Port Royale game is that in this you are the bloodthirsty pirate looking for the treasure.  Your entire goal is to cause trouble as you traverse the Caribbean by plundering and raiding cities and convoys you find on the seas.  Dawn of Pirates even adjusts the interface and gameplay for this new view of the game.

As if that weren’t enough, the Ironman-mode will challenge you even more than playing as a pirate after being a merchant or adventurer for so long.  When you choose this mode, you get no save points in the campaign.  So if you die, you will have to start all over again.  This is available for either the main campaign or the new DLC campaign so see how well you can do with both to add more gaming time.

Finally, the online ranking-system which will show the high scores across the globe for both the normal mode that Port Royale 3 came with, and the new Ironman mode so you can see just how good, or bad, you are compared to someone half a world away.

If you are interested in Dawn of Pirates, you can get it, for Windows PC only, through Steam or the Kalypso Launcher and you won’t have to plunder someone else’s treasure to pay for it.

I have been a gamer for over 20 years and a writer for longer than that. I was a gamer before it was "ok" for girls to play games. My preference is RPG's over everything else but I also like fighting games, action, adventure, sims, platform, puzzle, and casual games.
