What do you get when you combine a game and a novel; the RPG Shadow of the Game. Two years in development, the game has just released for everyone to play. DeRail should be proud too.
Shadow of the Game was created to be an interactive story game. In fact, this game is supposed to blur the boundaries of real-life identities and online gaming identities. It revolves around strong storytelling in the scene of an actual crime.
The game concept is, interesting. The strongest guild in this MMO is trying to become the highest-ranking guild in the game. This is so momentous that even the developers at Gizzard are watching the raid to see what happens. Unfortunately for the guild, their outcast player “Cookie” comes back starting and illegal race and has some power-hungry friends to help. This causes so many problems that friendships are tested, the internships are on the line, and the gamers must take action in the “real world” to resolve this.
Shadow of the Game has a multi-branching story with interactive dialogue. There are puzzles and puzzle based combat to solve this problem. It also has an original soundtrack and artwork making it truly unique.
Since DeRail Games doesn’t favor any particular distributor, they encourage gamers to download the game from their favorite gaming portal as it is available at over 70 of them on the web. Steam doesn’t have it yet but Greenlight is in the process of obtaining it. DeRail Games is even encouraging all their fans to vote yes or no on the Greenlight project page to speed up the process. How’s that for making sure a game is available everywhere on the Internet. Some places it can currently be found are GamersGate, Desura, VIAGAMME, and Little Indie+++.
