As 2013 begins, gaming releases are down a bit. That actually might be a good thing since the holiday season held so many games it was hard to play them all, even if you received them early in December. However, there are still some coming out which might make you put aside your current game to check out.
Releasing January 3:
The Sims 3: Monte Vista - An add-on where your Sims explore rich landscape, museums, piazza parlors, and even learn some culinary skills on an authentic wood-fire-oven.
Releasing January 8:
Cruel Games: Red Riding Hood- For anyone who thought that Little Red Riding Hood was only for children, think again. This hidden object game changes the fairy tale to a modern day setting with a madman who kidnaps people and forces them to act out versions of classic fairytales. It’s dark and disturbing and definitely not for the faint of heart.
Releasing January 15:
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 – The first person shooter sequel where gamers play as Private Security Consultant Captain Cole Anderson. This is a single-player game where you will complete missions in Sarajevo, Burma, and Tibet.
Releasing January 22:
The Sims 3: 70′s, 80′s and 90′s Stuff – If you remember any of these three eras and want to relive them with your Sims, this is the expansion pack for you. It’s all here: 70s disco, 80s glam, and 90s grunge. Clothing, hairstyles, even home décor for those nostalgic about these decades.
Exorcist 3: Inception of Darkness – The title alone should instill that this is not a game for children. Third in the series, gamers will again follow Garret Ghostfighter as he heads to an archaeological encampment where scientists and his own godson have disappeared. Despite the fact that there are no clues to these disappearances, screams can be heard in the night. Find out what evil Garret must defeat this time around.
Releasing January 24:
Strike Suit Zero – This space shooter should have every gamer’s attention out there. A Kickstarter success that almost doubled their $100K goal, the game sounds different than others because it’s not a space game where you wear a robot suit or have a laser sword to fight enemies. You will have to think outside the box to work through this one.
Releasing January 28:
Heavy Fire: Shattered Spear – Of all the games on this list, Heavy Fire was the most difficult to find any information about. This is the only blub I could find after searching several sites: Wage high speed war in Iran and Afghanistan with helicopters, tanks, ships, the mighty AC-130, sniper rifles, machine guns, pistols, grenades and more. Single player or cooperative mode for up to 4 players.
Releasing January 31:
Company of Heroes 2 – Five years after the release of the original, this real-time strategy game has gamers focusing on the Eastern Front of World War II. Now gamers will see the war as it was fought against the Soviet Red Army in campaigns such as the Battle of Berlin.
