Guild Wars 2 tops in 2012

Guild Wars 2 tops in 2012

At this point unless you have been living in a box, you know that Guild Wars 2 released in August and has been a huge game this year.  Sometimes it might seem that it’s only as big as the fans want it to be (although that may be a contradiction for this article), and not that great of a game.  However, Guild Wars 2 can actually state that it is probably the best MMO of 2012.

Why would I make that claim, well it has come in as the number one game on two recently released sites lists.  Yes, not just one but two.  One of these is a big name place too, which should make you non-believers out there jump on the bandwagon (ok, ok that is my personal opinion).  So, just what are these two great sites I’m talking about; Press Play TV and Time Magazine Online.

Now Press Play TV is not finished with their countdown, the five-part game domination is being released over several weeks, but two of them are out and Guild Wars 2 is the best game in two categories so far.  It should come as no surprise that the two categories are Best RPG and Best MMO.  In fact, for the editor’s pick Guild Wars 2 was the favorite of all of them except one for MMO.

From the Time Magazine Online list, half of them were available on PC with the rest console only games (some were multi-platform).  The game which took the number two slot was a Wii game and the third a multi-platform game so it balanced out quite well.  So why did Time like it so much; because it “is one of those rare games that unexpectedly knocks your life off-kilter.”  There is so much to do that you can experience all kinds of levels of fun in the game.

So if you have been unsure about playing this huge MMO, well, maybe you should start thinking about getting a copy.

I have been a gamer for over 20 years and a writer for longer than that. I was a gamer before it was "ok" for girls to play games. My preference is RPG's over everything else but I also like fighting games, action, adventure, sims, platform, puzzle, and casual games.
