Gaming PC’s require things that other PC’s don’t. You need a good processor, awesome graphic card, enough RAM for the games you want to play, along with some other essential components, some of which depend on what kind of games you want to play. Some people don’t think about the monitor being one of those essential components but a good monitor can make or break a gaming experience just like a good computer.
Monitors can be expensive, especially if you want a big screen with an extremely high resolution. These days though there are options which didn’t exist many years ago; a high definition television. Many of these can double as a monitor and cost less than the same size computer monitor. You might think the picture quality can’t be that much better but I can attest that is not the case.
We just acquired a 32″ LED TV that was converted to a new monitor for us. It is a 16 x 9 format as well. Right now it looks huge compared to the old one, which I think, was a 20″ but we’ve had it so long I’m not positive. According to my husband it was bigger than the computer monitor he was looking at and only has 4 Hz less than the monitor he compared it too. Now it was about $50 more but for a much bigger monitor he said the price difference wasn’t an issue. Plus to get a monitor this big would have been about $150 more than the TV.
So the next time you are in the market for a new computer monitor, try thinking outside the box and checking out a TV instead. You might be surprised what you can get to satisfy your gaming needs.
