I have had an ongoing love affair with Counter Strike (1.6, Condition Zero, Source, GO) for 10+ years. Some of the early maps I learned to love were Dust, Dust2, Aztec Italy, Assault, Office, Inferno, Train… But things have changed, this is the story of last night Why I Uninstalled Counter Strike: Global Offensive.
I never got super competitive with the game, but for many years I loved to head to a great server (Favorite List) for some 16 vs 16 PUB Action. I never took CS too seriously, but always prided myself on not being a pussy, rushing with the team when needed or playing it safe and playing picks. I even have the patience from time to time to save a few rounds to buy an AWP, AK or M4 if our team was getting rolled, a real stand up player. Most of my CS days I ended up with an even score or even positive. But recently things have been getting out of control.
The other night I had 2 separate rounds on 2 different servers where I bagged 8 bad guys, each round. Getting that many kills in a round could give a guy a God Complex, even on a Public Server.
So, in light of my recent CS amazingness I noticed something, I have lots of epic games in my Steam Game Library that I have yet to play. What was I doing spending hour after hour on CS:GO servers owning noobs when I could be experiencing new games? This lead me to the conclusion, I have no gaming-self-control.
The only way I could comprehend forcing myself to put do Counter Strike for a while to experience some new gaming worlds and characters was to uninstall GO. While this was a hard choice, I still sleep peacefully at night knowing if the urge to own some noobs is too strong I can easily re-install GO and get it on.
That being said, your are welcome. You are welcome CS:GO community that I will not be seeing you on any servers for the near future owning you, maybe you will have an actual chance these next few months to get positive.
